German nouns that refer to females or males are feminine or masculine respectively. However, the gender of most nouns in the German language doesn’t necessarily have to do with the noun being male, female, or inanimate. The gender can be determined by examining the word’s makeup. Some of its structural elements are signals that a noun is masculine, feminine, or neuter.


Exercise 1. Find the parts of the words and write them down with the correct article.
